In Falsus 20 Essential Beginner Tips
What the game does not tell you in the first hour.
In Falsus is lowiro’s second title: rhythm game × card crafting × visual novel. The demo (v0.3.1) throws you into Floor lanes, Field flicks, Iota grids, and five voiced protagonists before you have learned any of the verbs. These 20 tips come from playing the demo repeatedly and watching where new players consistently stumble.
Watch the demo walkthrough video above while you read. The visual reference helps more than a text list.
Controls and Input
1. Rebind your keys before anything else
The default bindings put Floor keys on ASDF and Field flicks on mouse movement. If your hand does not fit that layout, open Settings → Keybind Planner and remap. A mis-sized reach on a 6-note Floor chart is an EXACT you will never recover.
2. Field flicks are not mouse gestures — they are timed taps
The Field activates above the Floor lane. Moving the mouse into the aerial zone triggers a flick check. The window is tight and consistent, not a swipe-speed variable. Practice Cryogenic MIN 2 until the flick timing feels mechanical.
3. Left and right flicks both exist
Some charts mix left flicks and right flicks. Check your current binding in Settings and confirm which mouse direction maps to which flick. A wrong-direction flick counts as a miss, not a Floor note.
4. EXACT > GREAT > GOOD > Miss — but the real split is EXACT vs everything else
Encounter Score scales heavily on EXACT rate. GREAT is audible feedback but does not carry the same multiplier. Train yourself to read the approach timing, not just react to the note colour.
Cards and Integration
5. Cards do not replace hitting notes — they ride alongside
Your rhythm accuracy drives the main score. Cards add Power and Defence to the Encounter layer. A perfect Blueprint with no chart skill still loses to a clean MIN clear with basic cards.
6. Keep your first Blueprint clean before adding more Iota
Overload (too many pieces) drops stats to 89%. Out of Bounds drops to 56%. Disconnect or Falsehood can drop to 0%. Fill one Blueprint with zero penalties before you try to optimise.
7. Average Potency drags down your whole card
Every Iota has a Potency value. If you stuff a Blueprint with low-Potency filler, your entire card’s multiplier shrinks. Prioritise quality over quantity when choosing which pieces to place.
8. You cannot use two cards from the same Blueprint in one loadout
Each of the five characters has one Blueprint. You can equip at most five cards, but they must come from five different Blueprints. Plan your loadout around colour coverage, not character loyalty.
9. Color advantage is Red → Green → Purple → Yellow → Blue → Red
Each colour beats the next in the cycle, giving ×1.25 damage. Check the Encounter’s colour before you lock in a loadout. A colour advantage on a close fight is the difference between a clear and a fail.
Progression and Farming
10. Clear every MIN you own before chasing EVO
MIN charts teach the song’s patterns. If you do not know when a Field segment arrives, you will dump your combo on a flick you did not see. Learn the song on MIN first.
11. Farm Iota on MIN Encounters, not free-play
Demo Encounters give Iota as a reward for clearing. Free-play does not always drop Iota. If your Blueprint is empty, run MIN Encounters until you have pieces to place.
12. Remembrance tracks where an Encounter sits in the story calendar
Encounter screens show a number and a date (for example Remembrance 1 | 10276/8/27). This tells you where the fight falls in the Scenario timeline, not how hard it is.
13. Demo progress does not carry over to the full game
Save files are separate. Whatever you build in the demo stays in the demo. On September 9, you start fresh in the purchased game.
Character and Story
14. Each protagonist has a different school and social context
Nia and Mei share Akie High School and isolation. Ayame is at the Amachi Institute of Art & Design with a social life. Iris is confrontational and attends a different school. Story Étienne is a Mute who opted out of the Bind’s broadcast. Pick a route based on which protagonist’s perspective you want, not which chart is easiest.
15. Binds display deceit — not emotion in general
The collars react to false statements, not to sadness or anger. A character who is silent is not necessarily lying. Read the story guide for the distinction between Binds, Mutes, and the Shroud.
16. Character cards depict moments you have witnessed
When you Integrate a card named “Mei: 4AM”, the art shows a specific scene. If you have not yet played Mei’s perspective route, the card is context you have not earned.
Demo Specifics
17. FBD is locked in the demo — it is a system, not a joke
Even when community captures show FBD 10 or 11 on a jacket, the tile remains locked in your client. FBD unlocks through play in the full game.
18. The demo has two voiced Scenario entries (Mei and Iris) in v0.3.0
The April 2026 update added two voiced scenes. If your client still feels quiet, check your audio settings and confirm you are on version 0.3.0 or later.
19. Store art and community captures may show jackets not in your current build
Later preview builds and capture sets include songs not yet in your demo version. Missing a jacket is not a bug. Check the demo changelog for version history.
20. The September 9 launch expands everything — do not treat demo as final
Over 70 songs, over 40 originals, full voice acting for all five routes, and a complete Card roster ship on launch day. The demo is a teaching environment, not a shrinking preview.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for demo players and launch-week questions.
Should I rebind keys before playing?
Yes. The default ASDF layout does not fit every hand. Use Settings → Keybind Planner to remap before your first chart.
Do I need five cards before entering an Encounter?
No. Five is the cap. One clean card with zero penalties is enough to learn the Encounter layer.
Why is my Blueprint showing 89% even with only one penalty?
One active penalty keeps 89% of your stats. Two penalties drop to 56%. Three or more drops to 0%. See the penalty table above.
Does demo progress carry over to the full game on September 9?
No. Demo saves and card collections are separate from the purchased game.
Which color beats which in the advantage cycle?
Red beats Green, Green beats Purple, Purple beats Yellow, Yellow beats Blue, Blue beats Red. Each advantage gives ×1.25 damage.
